PS2 vs Stand alone DVD

The info
Using DVD discs was easy. All you had to do is obviously put the disc, and run the movie. No configuring your Playstation 2 or changing settings in the game. Just put in and play. As usual, the disc will load the main menu of the DVD in which you can choose the features. Other movies get to the point and start the main presentation. No big deal.

The same is for the stand alone DVD player. Just insert the DISC and press play and your off. Both do the same thing and no configuration is required.

Picture Quality: Playstation 2

Sony Trinitron XBR 36"
When I first saw the menu, the picture quality was very awesome. I was expecting a sort of low quality, crappy looking picture. But it was great. I then pressed the X button which activated the movie into play mode and started the movie. At this point, everything was going perfect. The video was going very smooth as I expected. The television also helps because of its latest technology which gives a boost in picture quality. So I couldn't of lost.

RCA 28" Television
The picture quality was nice and enjoyable. I expected less but I got more. Any person could have nice, smooth video quality without spending the big bucks for an expensive television. The screen size was small but still good compared to the other larger television. I tested out some special effects from movies like the Matrix and Jurassic Park and they looked terrific! I was more than pleased to see how the PS2 made the picture so clear and smooth.

Mitsubishi 26" Television
This television has been in the hands of my family since I was little. At first, they used it as a reference point to see how fast I was growing. So you can say this is kind of old but we still have it for personal reasons.

So what's the big deal of my personal life? Well, the quality was amazingly great with this television. It's about 12 years old and I was pleased with the video! It goes to show the power of the Playstation 2. You also have to consider that the television is not a crappy one either. It's still a good TV even though it's old.

Picture Quality: Sony DVD Player (Stand alone DVD Player)

Sony Trinitron XBR 36"
The picture quality was awesome and better than the Playstation 2. I was expecting this because of the great things this television offers. I also want to add that I have S-Video monstar cables which greatly increase the picture quality. This was the only television which has this so there will be a big difference between this TV and the other two. I don't want to get specific but it's just damn good. Not much to say here.

RCA 28" Television
It was very hard to compare and contrast between the PS2 and the stand alone DVD player. If I were to take a guess, both were equal in picture quality. I tried checking out special effects, such as in the Matrix, and both turned out great. Some would argue because they may see something that I didn't see but it was hard. Both worked out very well.

Mitsubishi 26" Television
Quality was about the same with this television. It had less picture quality due to the fact that it has a lot of years on it. The only down was the size. 26" compared to a 28". It may sound like its not a big deal but look at it as if you were looking at a 15" monitor and a 17" monitor. Got ya thinking eh?
