Vehicle Modification Let's say you
start out with a nice Dodge truck, and you race on about 10 to 13 tracks, you
will end up with a totally new looking truck. It will obviously be better than
the one you stared out with. In Career mode you can run races and earn cash,
buy parts, and fix up your vehicle. In the game. $money$ is the key. Just like
it is in life. With the big bucks, you can buy dozens of parts that increase
the value and driving ability of your truck. As in reality, the parts you add
may affect a particular part you already have. Or, lets say you wanted to put
in a turbo in your truck, you would need to add some sort of racing clutch.
Players can select from various tire selections, such as shallow cut (asphalt),
medium cut (gravel) deep cut (mud, rain, sand), studded (ice or snow).
Drivers? When I play racing games, I hardly ever see a driver
in there. Lol. I'll be honest. With this game, you can actually see the driver.
O'Keefe put it in better words, "We animated the driver, and so if you slam
into a wall, his head will slam into the dashboard. He moves in rhythm with the
car's dynamics in realtime. We also added a whip antenna, which gives you a
visual dynamic clue of the kinds of motion the cars are really making. Also,
when the ties are spinning, the dirt particles flying off in various directions
and you can hear then slamming against the truck or colliding with other
vehicles." Weather/Time of day Another feature that
excited me was the ability to change the time of day and the type of weather.
For the time of day, players can choose dusk, daytime, pitch black and night.
As for weather, you can select sunny, fog, dense fog, and rain.
